Flagship Thematic Pillar
Entrepreneurship Development, Livelihood & Poverty Alleviation
Tackling poverty and youth unemployment by creating sustainable micro-enterprises and local value chains.
The Challenge & Strategy
Breaking the Cycle of Rural Poverty & Underemployment
Poverty and Unemployment remain the central systemic challenge facing communities in Nepal, especially in rural hilly regions like Parbat. In our analysis, lack of technical know-how, market linkages, and credit access trap energetic youth and women in low-productivity cycles or drive reckless foreign migration.
Frontline Nepal identifies local potential and equips youth with vocational skills, modernized technology tools, and enterprise mentorship. We incubate Productive Agro-Enterprises (PAE) based on high-value indigenous crops like Ginger, Hog Plum (Lapsi), Turmeric, and citrus fruits.
Key Initiatives & Projects
- Incubation of Micro-Enterprises and Producer Collectives
- Establishment of the Youth Entrepreneurship Resource Center (YERC)
- Value-added processing training for Lapsi, Ginger, and NTFP herbs
- Facilitating financial literacy and ethical microfinance mediation for marginalized groups
Target Measurable Outcomes
- Self-sustaining livelihoods for marginalized dalit, indigenous, and women-led households
- Creation of local employment hubs discouraging involuntary overseas labor migration
- Direct linkage between rural producers and urban consumer markets
